Tomorrow, Feb 13, at 10AM Eastern time, my group program Finish Your Damn Course! will be open for enrollment.
If you’re not sure what the program is or whether it’s right for you, here’s what you need to know:
1. FYDC is a hybrid program.
That simply means it’s a mix of self-paced and live content. The live sessions are recorded, so if you can’t make it, you can watch them later.
In other words, you get the benefit of working at your own pace *and* getting live help. I like to run the course live for two reasons:
Creating a course isn't easy, so I want to make sure you have the support and community you need
The program is still in beta, which means I'm teaching the concepts live to see where you get 'stuck' so I can make things clearer
2. FYDC is a group program for course creators
How many self-paced courses have you bought and never finished? For complex processes and topics, you need good 'ol human interaction. Finish Your Damn Course! is designed to give you the roadmap, community, and accountability you need to validate and finish your course. You don't have to go it alone.
3. You don’t need to have an email list, but you DO need to have a group of people to market to.
FYDC teaches you to validate, create and launch your course. In order to be successful, you’ll need to have a group of people to sell to. This is easiest if you have an email list, but it can also be a client list, people in a forum or group that you’re part of, etc.
In the past, I’ve been stricter about students having an email list, but recently a student had success selling to prospective clients waiting to work with him. So I'm loosening the reins.
The course will show you how to research your target audience to validate if they want, need and will buy your course, then we move on to designing your course. This is not a program that shows you how to build an audience, so you’ll want to have some traction with your target audience before signing up.
4. If you have a proven process, you can turn it into a course.
If you’re a business owner with a process that regularly delivers results and revenue (something you use w/ clients, for example), FYDC will help you turn that process into an online course. In fact, you’ll be ahead because you already have a target audience.
If you’re a designer, developer, writer, or consultant, FYDC will be especially applicable for you because chances are you already serve an audience that pays you money and have insight into their needs.
Sidebar: This is why I recommend selling services before courses because you’ll get to know:
who your target audience is
what their needs are
who can hire you at your rates (keep selling them services)
who can’t budget your rates (create a product for them)
5. There are two purchase options, $997 and $1497. You can even split the cost into 3 payments.
Once you’ve paid, you'll get instant access to the course. You’ll start with an assessment and a habits exercise, followed by the first module on validation.
The course also includes worksheets, video lessons, resources + recommendations, access to our private Slack channel, replays of past office hours, and more.
You’ll get access to all of it.
There’s also 6 live sessions where we’ll work through topics in the course. You’ll get a calendar invite for these, but if you can’t make it you can always watch the replay.
6. Will FYDC deliver an ROI for you?
That depends on whether you do the work. FYDC will show you how to do research to validate your idea, how to outline & create your content, and how to pre-sell a tiny beta. But none of it works if you don’t.
If you show up, do the lessons, and get out of your comfort zone, you will see results.
On the other hand, if you have a habit of not doing the work, FYDC may not be a good fit for you. If you’re in love with your idea and don’t want to do research, FYDC won’t be a good fit at all.
I like to be up front about this, because I want you to be successful. I value your time and that of others in the program. FYDC will give you the structure, community and accountability you need—but you have to show up.
7. FYDC is platform agnostic, i.e no affiliate spam.
This course is not a way for me to make a bunch of affiliate sales by pushing you to purchase the platform that pays me the most money. Aren't we tired of that yet?
I'm platform agnostic. I use Thinkific, but you don't have to. This program is about helping you finish your course. There are a couple affiliate links for email providers, but always a note that you can use whatever you fancy. Cool?
One more thing: I’m only accepting 5 new students for the beta.
